Thank You = 2 Small Words

Thank You.
–adjective
Expressing one's gratitude or thanks: a thank-you note

Two small words that mean so much...
Recently I wrote about my fine customer service experience from my local Sears (in the post below) and took the time to forward the post to Sears. Little did I know that it would be acknowledged in such a way as I received the following email back.
Dear Leslie,

Thank you for your recent correspondence.  We appreciate you taking the time to tell us that you had a satisfying experience with the service provided in our Ringoes, NJ Sears Hometown Store.

We enjoy hearing that we have been able to exceed your expectations.

Your comments have been forwarded to the Sears Holdings Corporation management team as well as the local store for proper recognition.  In addition your letter will be shared as an example of the satisfaction we should seek to attain with all of our customers.

We appreciate your business and value you as a customer.  We certainly hope you will continue to make Sears Holdings your choice for quality and value. Once again, thank  you for contacting us.

Sincerely,
Jessica C.

This response got me thinking...

How often is it that we actually take the time to say "Thank you" or "Great Job"?  When we receive bad service we are usually on the phone or scribing a poison pen either by email or letter as fast as the service was received, but what about the "Great Service"? Are we as fast as to acknowledge these times? If not, why not?  Is it just assumed that we had a great experience?

Taking the time to acknowlege a great customer service experience is so important to companies, it lets them know that they are headed in the right direction, their training has been followed through and they are making a difference.

Make someone smile today and if you've had a great customer service experience, don't be shy about it, let them know!  Saying "Thank You" goes a long way!

Have you made someone smile today?
