I'm having a party and everyone is invited!!
Today I have so many reasons to celebrate, {even though I'm feeling under the weather} ...
I've invited Kool & The Gang to the party to sing, "Celebration", I hope you don't mind.
Pretend we're all sitting in a large banquet hall, dressed in our Sunday's best, holding glasses of champagne up high as I step up to the podium and give my acceptance speech for two awards I've recently won! How about it huh?
Tranquil Acres of Alexandria clicked "POST" on December 20, 2010 to enter the airwaves of Blogsville. Less than three months later I've hit 100 followers and have received two special awards to which I'm very humbled in receiving.
I hope you don't mind that I will combine the two awards and give my acceptance speech in one post.. One of the rules of accepting such honors is I need to tell you seven things about me. So, here they are..
1. I am very afraid of snakes.. Could have been from the Boa Constrictor that was found across the street from me.
2. I can get lost in a paper bag! I am petrified of driving to places I've never been before and I have no sense of direction. I could kiss the maker of GPS!
3. I once got a job in Burger King to help with bills. During the training meeting I realized I could have been most of the other cashiers mother. The uniform they gave me looked ridiculous. After going home and seeing my husbands reaction to the uniform and hat I was supposed to wear, it only confirmed my decision that I was never going to start that job. The following day I drove up to the drive-thru window and ordered a burger and when they opened the drawer, I shoved my uniform in the drawer and drove away.
4. I have lost the tear-film in my eyes.. If you should find it, please return it! Actually, when I was pregnant with my first daughter my doctor told me that I had lost my tear film do to the hormones that were going crazy in my body. Maybe that's why I don't cry that often?
5. I have two tattoos. One is on my ankle (a heart with a vine around my ankle) and one very large one on my chest of a vining flower. I only was brave enough to get them in my early 40's. Doesn't make a bad person though..
6. I get panic attacks before hosting parties. Yes, honestly! I am such a perfectionist that I want everything to be "just so" before I host any kind of get together or party. Even putting together this post I panicked!
7. About six years ago I had seven guinea pigs that I truly adored. My husband was kind enough to give up his pool table in order for me to build a cage which was the size of the entire pool table!
In keeping with an award tradition I will now award some other fine bloggers with both of these rewards as well. All of these blogs have touched my heart, made me laugh and keep me wanting more.. {While I was supposed to award 15 blogs for each award, I hope you won't mind that I combined them being that I received both in one week}
I received my Versatile Blogger Award from Donnie at "New Blessing Everyday" Thank you Donnie!

Thank you for indulging me..

Leslie - I am honored to receive one of the Versatile awards, although you are really the king of that distinction. And by the way, I hope to share some snake photos with you in the not too distant future.
ReplyDeleteLOL.. John... a... no.... you can keep your snake snapshots.. I'll look at the pretty foliage and flowers instead. ;)
ReplyDeleteI had to read Don the GPS one because I am very directionally challenged. Loved how you wrote such a beautiful post and it shows why you deserve both awards.
ReplyDeletecongrats, isn't it exciting to reach that first 100.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the award...
Congrats! I jst got my 100th not so long ago, too! I'm at 103 now! Isn't it fun?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the awards!
I do not like snakes either. Scares me to death. They have to die.
To bad you didn't stay with Burger King- you would have been employee of the month every month! LOL You would have made their sales go up so much- their loss.
Ok, no don't laugh- but my first job was a nurses aide in a nursing home. I saw what happens to tatoos when you get old and the skin is looser than a bad slip cover for your couch. The battle ships on the old sailor boys had sunk so much, they could tuck them in their pants, and that's when I swore I would never have one, ever. Imagine wadding up a piece of paper and then undoing it to see what was written on except with human skin. Yepper, not a pretty sight. LOL
Loved this post and getting to know you a little more!
So sweet!
Hugs- Tete
Donnie - I think the Directionally challenged seed got planted when I got lost in a not so nice city when I first got my license... I was going down one way streets the WRONG way in a popular "HOOD" that I was not familiar with.. egads! I always said, "I'm going to take a trip.. where? I haven't a clue.. where ever I get lost too!"
ReplyDeleteMarjorie - Thank you.. my pleasure!
Tete - Thank you for the comments.. Well, I know about the sagging tattoo's... that's why I got a flower.. I can say I'm withering, or a dried up flower, but when preserved right, they can still be sweet!
Thank you so much for the award! I humbly accept! It is so kind of you to think of me. I thoroughly enjoyed reading facts about you. Made me smile. I have responded to this award already so I'll let that post count for this one too. You can find it on my blog, "8 things I know to be true."
ReplyDeleteCongrats on over 100 followers! Keep up the good work!

I so laughed at the Burger King tale. How funny stuffing the uniform into the drawer. I will be smiling all day as I think of that. You are awesome. Oh oops, congratulations on the awards (cue orchestral musics and clapping). I can relate about panic attacks when I have people over for dinner, or visitors who are staying.
ReplyDeleteCheers,

Congradulations on the 100 followers. I know just how you feel. I hit 100 this week too! I'm excited for you.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the award. It is my first one and it was such a treat to see my blog on the list. Thank you for thinking of me. It sure helps to get good feed back. It makes it all seem worth it. Congrats on 100 followers. I am quickly approaching that mark and can't wait!
