OH! Mother Nature!!

While out in my yard not too long ago I found a wood mushroom growing out of one of my trees.. Mother Nature has struck again!

I've been sitting on a picture of a wood mushroom for quite sometime confused as to whether or not I should actually post it as some would raise an eyebrow or two, or stop following me completely!  However, in looking at it with an open mind, I decided that since I am a "Versatile" blogger, you've come to expect that anything might be posted about here at Tranquil Acres of Alexandria!

For those of you that don't know what a Wood Mushroom is, let me explain. It is a fungus that grows out trees and branches that are dying or dead.

Mother Nature has presented herself in some very strange ways around my house, but none as vivid as this picture. I will remind you who Mother Nature is.. She is the common personification of nature and all the life giving and nurturing aspects of it.

I suppose Mother Nature is present in my yard and quite a conversation piece. Thankfully she is up high on this tree as not to embarrass me with every guest..

  1. That's like a Georgia O'Keeffe painting. Beautiful but suggestive....I am so shocked....lol....It could also be mistaken for a White tailed deer's rear. Hear, Hear....lol...

  4. You have such a sense of humor Leslie! I just read your last post about the itch. I had to read it aloud to my hubby. Thanks for the laugh!
Just wanted to stop by and say thank you so much for my gift! I just received the jar of pumpkin pie spice today! This is the first thing I've ever won! Woo Hoo! And the inside of the box smelled so good! I love surprises! I've already added it to my little cabinet of spices.
I really appreciate your kindness and am so glad we connected. You are so sweet!
    Hugs,
    Tammy

  5. Thanks Tammy.. My pleasure. You the spice in pies, sprinkled on apples and even in cookies. Glad you noticed the smell of the box. I spritzed it with one of my favorite perfumes.. lol... don't know why, just did.. You are very welcome.. Glad we connected as well.. Oh, and yes, I do have a sense of humor, sometimes strange as you have seen, but down to earth too. I have many, many funny stories that I have yet to tell! :)

  6. That's funny. About wood mushrooms...on Australian Masterchef they were using wood ear mushrooms. I told my daughter they grow in peoples ears when they don't clean them properly. She did kind of believe me for a bit.

    Cheers,
