Scratch That Itch!

Have you ever had an itch that you were just dying to scratch? Many years ago I had an itch that I just had to scratch, which later has become a story that I can't match..

My friends have said I could write a book with all the funny things that have happened to me over time. This little excerpt would definitely be in the book under the "Was I Embarrassed?" chapter.

When my husband and I were first married we decided it was time to look into life insurance. I called an insurance company and had a representative come over to explain the different policies.

As usual, I was wearing just socks when he came in the house and thought nothing of it, after all, it was my house..  We sat at the dining room table. My husband was seated at the other end from me, and the insurance man was sitting closer to me.

As he went on and on about the various policies, I suddenly had an itch that I could not resist. The itch was on the bottom of my foot and rather than making myself look completely awkward by bending over to scratch it, I began to scratch the itch by gently rubbing my foot up and down the table leg. I did this for about 10 minutes. All the while I noticed that the insurance man's face was turning redder and redder. Was the room getting hot? Was he unsure or nervous about his presentation? Was he getting ill I wondered?

That was when all my questions were answered and the table leg suddenly moved, the salesman cleared his throat and said, "OK! So, are you interested?"

OH! NO! "WAS THAT YOUR LEG?" I said! With that the salesman laughed and said, "why yes it was.." WOW! Was I embarrassed! My husband was totally in the dark as to the game of footsie that was taking place beneath the tabletop.

Just goes to show, that you need to be careful about satisfying an itch, and look before you scratch.

Did we get the insurance? Sure did, but I never saw that salesperson again!
