Last night my husband and I decided it was time to get out of the house and go out on a 'date'..We went to a local restaurant and were seated at a nice window table. The restaurant was dimly lit with lots of ambiance. There were a lot of couples in the room dining as well but the woman sitting next to me intrigued me as I saw a lovely purse hanging off her chair. It was a very pretty pink purse that I immediately thought would make for a perfect post to a future Pink Saturday edition.
I asked my husband to take a picture of it. He looked me and said, "Are you serious?" Yes I am! He wouldn't do it. A little later I said, "May I have your phone?" as I was dead set on taking the picture. Reluctantly he decided to take the job on himself. He snapped a couple shots, but didn't use the flash, so the picture turned out bad. I grabbed the phone and proceeded to take the picture myself, with the flash.. Oh....the noise a cell phone makes when it takes a picture is a bit loud wouldn't you say, especially when you're trying to perform it under cover.. After taking the photo, I realized it was a bit much for me to trying to do this in such a romantic setting.. I decided the purse was not worth the embarrassment. After all I am not the paparazzi.
We had a nice dinner and left. The restaurant was not far from our home so the ride home should have been quick. It's always been a joke that after I go out for dinner, I usually fall asleep on the ride home within seconds. Since I didn't want to disrupt my record of "how fast Leslie can fall asleep" I pretended to fall asleep on my husbands shoulder. I made a few snoring noises to add to the scene. With that, my husband screams out, "OH MY GOD!" and starts to slam on the breaks.
I immediately opened my eyes and said, "WHAT?" in a complete and utter panic! My husband was pretending as well it seems.. As he knew I was not asleep but rather teasing him.
With that he bust out laughing, the kind of laugh that your eyes tear and your stomach hurts. I was in a state of laughing and madness the entire ride home. It seems we are both pretenders..
But, you know what, it only proves that we still know how to make each other laugh and if it's one thing that we've needed recently - it is to laugh. Sometimes we can get in such a rut that we forget what it's like to have a belly laugh. It's a great stress reliever and good for our health. Have you laughed today?

Luv those kind of moments. Wish there were more of them. Have a great day.

Leslie, I am so glad that you and your man got out for the evening! And that you 2 kids still have what it takes to see the magic and laughter in each moment...and I hope it continued after you got out of the car...if you know what I mean.

ReplyDeleteI am laughing and laughing. How sweet is this. I love pretending with my husband too. I think that is what keeps us young. We still laugh and have fun together.
This is SO cute. I guess DH taught you not to close your eyes and pretend to go to sleep. Ha! Ha!
