Shoes or No Shoes?

Shoes or no shoes is the question.. I've already admitted that I am a clean freak so this post won't be too much of a surprise to many. Maybe I'm allergic to dirt?

I have this sign hung on my front door and another near my backdoor..

It definitely expresses my feelings on the subject wouldn't you say? I've learned through the years that shoes in the house create such a mess, let alone the germs that it deposits in the rugs that we often lay on..   Muddy boots are the worst!
Then there are the high heels that have actually punctured holes in my linoleum floor with their pretty little heal taps..

I figured someone must be in my corner or I wouldn't have ever found this sign. Right?

Am I an odd ball I sometimes wonder? Are you like me and have a problem with shoes entering your home?

  1. At our ages it's worse it anyone goes barefoot...ewwww...Don & I do take our shoes off but I never ask anyone else to. I don't know any of my friends that wear high heels or work boots. It's your home though and I would gladly take my shoes off. Just warn me so I can bring my slippers.

  2. Hi Leslie! Oh, I wish mine could be a shoeless home! Mister wears work boots and the 4 cats are in and out constantly. I'm in the garden half the year, but am very conscious of cleaning my shoes off every time I come in the house. I can dream, can't I?

  3. I have friends who have a "no shoes" policy, so you're in the clear. To be completely honest, I endorse the policy too, but haven't managed to enforce it in our home. I think it's a good idea for cleanliness and germs. Who knows what people have stepped in? One day I'll get really tough on my family - as Sue said, in my dreams.

  4. My husand recently decided that we all need to take off our shoes before we step on the carpet because it had just gotten cleaned. I have a hard time doing this because my hands are usually so full with stuff I can't stop to taken them off. But you aren't alone with wanting this.

  5. You sound like my sister. Her house is the cleanest one aound. However, she will let you wear your shoes. Nothing wrong with trying to keep germs out.

  6. I'm with you on this one. Shoes are the first thing to go when I come in the house. It's a necessity when you have kids!!

  7. Our house is definitely one where shoes are taken off at the door, sometimes even before you get inside the door! I'm definitely with you on this one. Shoes make carpets filthy, and those high heels can scratch the heck out of wood floors. I could use one of those signs though, so that I can stop being a tyrant about it!
    Happy REDnesday!

  8. I know a lot of people that make you take your shoes off and I respect that. I don't do that in my home but mainly because we have so much tile.
