The Perfect Christmas Cookie Party
The Perfect Christmas Cookie Party
The holidays are a great time to come together with friends and family for fun projects and activities. One of the most time-honored of Christmas traditions has to be the baking of Christmas cookies. Something about the holiday season brings out the baker in just about everyone. The key to a great Christmas cookie could be the cookie cutter, perhaps in the shape of an ornament. For your Mario-fanatic nephew or son, you could even make a super mario figures cookie. Either way, with or without icing, Christmas cookies are simple, but tasty.
Of course, a good Christmas cookie starts with a good recipe. You can decorate a nasty cookie as much as you want but at the end of the day it's still going to taste bad, so if you're planning for a cookie decorating party, try to keep it simple by sticking to a great sugar cookie recipe. You won't want to have to make multiple batches of a complex recipe. Keep in mind that dough must be refrigerated before cutting to avoid making a gooey, doughy mess. Firm dough can be easily rolled out and cut into perfect shapes with cookie cutters.
Many stores offer cookie decorating supplies and you'll want to be sure to stock up on sprinkles, frosting and candies to decorate the cookies with. For example, red, green and white M&Ms provide the perfect buttons for your gingerbread man cookie. You might also be interested in using cookie paint, which is edible and provides for even more creativity. If this is the case, be sure to supply brushes and cups of water for your guests. You'll also probably want to put a roll of butcher paper over the area where your guests will be painting to safeguard against any accidental spills or drips.
Once you have your recipe figured out and your supplies bought, you can start enjoying the fun of cookie decorating! Don't forget, Christmas cookies make a wonderful homemade Christmas present too!
Have fun!
