Local Favorite Spotlight: The Little York - Milford, NJ

Isn't it funny how we often get stuck in a rut when going out to eat? How many times have you thought about trying some place new and draw a blank as to where to go?  While this may have happened before, it's definitely not anymore since Tranquil Acres of Alexandria has been doing its local reviews of establishments within Hunterdon County.

I honestly do not know how it is that we've not enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere of "The Little York" which is only 8 minutes away from our home! While we may have missed out on the delicious menu in the past, it quickly became a "Local Favorite" for us now!

Let's visit "The Little York"...

This restaurant is located in the quaint town of Milford, NJ. Situated on a corner lot on Spring Mills Road, its size is quite deceiving from the outside as we were surprised by the number of rooms and tables inside.

While visiting on a Friday night, we could quickly see that it is a hopping place filled with regulars, friends who were meeting, and couples who were dating. As is common for Tranquil Acres of Alexandria when writing a review, we like to sit in a location where we can see everything that is going on in the establishment. Our hostess was only too obliging unknowing of our secret mission.

We were immediately greeted by our waitress, Krista who was nothing short of prompt, friendly, and polite. Just the kind of waitress we all want when dining out.  My drink of the evening was a Cosmopolitan which is always filled to the brim. If you've ever ordered a Cosmo out, you have to know that it is one of the hardest cocktails to be served as there's always the possibility of it dripping out if the server doesn't have a steady hand. Guess what.. Krista delivered my Cosmo without spilling a drop! The sign of an excellent waitress!

While perusing their specials menu, I was very intrigued by their "Borscht Soup", which is made from beets. I've always heard about this soup, but have never tried it. Some serve it cold, The Little York serves it hot and it was delicious!  My husband enjoyed his large portion of Seafood Salad too.

While their menu is filled with Italian American Cuisine we opted for a nice thin crusted pizza. Choosing from their list of toppings was hard as they all sounded delicious, but we settled on Roasted Red Peppers, Onions and Meatballs.

To top off the evening we even splurged on desserts, something that we often don't do, but we were enjoying ourselves so much we didn't want the night to end. While my husband had the tartufo, I thoroughly enjoyed my delicious brownie sundae!

While we were dining I decided that The Little York would be a spotlighted local favorite and presented Krista with my card stating as much. I always love to see the reaction from the establishments I chose as it literally gives me goose bumps when telling them. Krista was excited and couldn't say thank you enough! With that I was visited by Lisa, one of the family owners of The Little York, who thanked me as well. It was wonderful to talk with Lisa and find out a little history on The Little York that confirmed my choice as a Local Favorite.

People have asked me, "Why are you doing this?" My answer is always the same.. In these times of economic struggles, it's a little harder to make a name for yourself, put a mark on the map and be known for great service. My purpose is solely to raise attention to local Hunterdon County establishments in the hopes that our county will keep it local and keep our economy strong. I have no affiliation with any of the establishments that I visit, nor am I paid in any way for spotlighting such quality, customer service orientated merchants.
