Local Favorite Spotlight: Lovin' Oven - Frenchtown, NJ

While following the advice of many of my Facebook fans, my husband I decided to venture into Frenchtown, NJ and visit the "Lovin' Oven". I love it when my fans suggest places for us to visit and this suggestion was just perfect!

Years ago I had visited Lovin' Oven while they were in Milford, NJ and thought the food was absolutely wonderful. I had heard that they moved and had it on my 'places to re-visit' list. Needless to say, it will be a place that comes to the mind as a first choice now when going out for breakfast on a Sunday morning.

Upon entering we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who told us the wait would be approximately 30 minutes and was given one of those 'buzzers' that you get when you go to a larger scale chain restaurant. What a great idea because I knew where we were going to spend our waiting time and it gave us exactly enough time for me to rummage around again in "Two Buttons" which is right next door.  If you're new to Tranquil Acres of Alexandria I had done an article on "Two Buttons" which you can read about here

For those that prefer to keep in closer proximity, Lovin' Oven provides a convenient waiting area where there's a self serve coffee station as well. Smart idea!

Surprise! The wait time wasn't exactly 30 minutes but rather 20 minutes. OK, so I had to cut my shopping trip in Two Buttons a little short but my stomach was ready for some "lovin" anyway..

While sitting at our table I realized that while the new location is very nice, clean with some rustic and even modern touches, I think the old location was just a tad bit more 'charming', but that's just my personal opinion and when you consider the amount of seating space they have now, coupled with the fact that I've heard that their new kitchen is a cooks dream, I can definitely understand why their move was made.  I have a feeling that their customers followed them from Milford to Frenchtown as it's just a hop - skip and a jump from their old location.

Did I mention how clean Lovin' Oven is? It's open and airy with a very friendly air about it along with very soft music fit for every listener.

When I opened my menu I really had to read about all the dishes, as they have a very organic & healthy feel about them. No problem, as we weren't rushed to make our selections but were rather given our mug of coffee and time to thoroughly peruse all their menu items.

To view all of their selections, click on the menu.

Our decisions were made and what delicious dishes they were!

My husband had the Croque Madame which was a grilled ham and Swiss sandwich on country white topped with two fried eggs.

While I had the French Breakfast Sandwich which was two fried eggs, grilled asparagus, thin sliced ham and brie on a warm croissant.

Along side my dish was an absolutely delicious Cous Cous cold salad which I even had to replicate at home, but I must admit, mine was no comparison to Lovin' Oven's original.

I found the wait staff to be extremely friendly and prompt with bringing out our meals and keeping our mugs of coffee filled to the brim. I don't know about you, but when I don't have to sit and try and catch the eye of my server to ask for something it's a great customer service experience, which is exactly what I found at Lovin' Oven.

If you're in the Frenchtown area, do make it a point to stop into Lovin' Oven as they serve not only breakfast, but lunch and dinner as well. Check out their website for further information.

Two little pieces of information you should know..

They don't take credit cards, nor reservations, but don't let that stop you. Why don't they take credit cards you wonder? It helps to keep the costs down of their food which helps you save in your wallet too!

Can you tell I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast?

Thank you Lovin' Oven, you certainly have earned a place in "My Local Favorites".
